Website header image

I then wanted to choose an appropriate picture for my header. I have chosen a black and white picture to fit the theme of a newspaper style. This is not my image, this is a secondary resource that I have just put there for now so I can overlook the variety of images that work well with my websites format. The idea for my header is that I want it to stand out as this will be the first focus point my audience look at when they are taken to my website page at the top. If the attraction is not there then my readers may choose not to scroll down and read on.

I wanted to find a image that was Black and White as it suits my colour scheme really well. My aim is that my header changes everyday due to the different events that are going on. I will use my main story headline image as the picture placed as the header and it is the most important thing of the day. I will make it so that the header image changes everyday to suit the current environmental surroundings.

Logo

I wanted to create a logo that was clearly visible and straight to the point. I feel I have successfully done this as I have not only included the name of my newspaper but I have included a logo image behind the text. This gives a psychology effect to my target audience due to the image is a seagull, therefore it is psychotically aiming at a audience from Whitstable.

I have used Adobe Fireworks to edit my header. When updating a header to my website it will only allow me to add just a image, not text. I wanted my logo to be at the top of the page so I thought why not compromise them together. I took the base picture and turned it into a background image and placed my logo design that I have created and placed it on the top right on the image. I feel the top right was the best place to put the image as it is the direction that the audiences eyes will be drawn to as that is the way the trees are being swung by the wind. However I feel the logo looks too subtle, I want it to be more BOLD so my audience know exactly what online news page they are on.
