Colours and Tones

Colours and tones

In billboards they usually use colour to show connotations which connects to the audiences emotions. This is done by the meaning of either a symbol or colour that has been places on the picture which leaves a hidden meaning. The background on a billboard would need to be either a bold simple colour so that the writing on top stands out and grabs the audiences attention as the writing can be the most important piece on the image if it is guiding them to what it is. A popular background on billboards tend to either be black or white so that way they can put the opposite colour black or white on top of the background so that the writing is striking and is visible. Although black and white is popular, primary colours are also popular background colours as they tend to have connotation. For example if the background on a billboard was blue; this can give a calm vibe to their audience. The colour all depends on what vibe and feel you are presenting to your audience. If I was to create a billboard on a danger hazard i would use black and red contrasted together as they are clearly visible colours over one another and they both represent danger.

The billboard that has been represented here is advertising a skin care product is has used two basic colours which contrast well together. Blue represents calm which can create a nice and smooth atmosphere. This billboard has been cleverly designed when in use in the day light. There is an outline of a water drop which shows that is a pure product for the skin. The sky colour fits perfectly in this water droplet cut out; engaging not only the audience to the billboard but by connecting the sky to create an illusion. Illusions are more effective in billboards as they get a lot more notice. I think it was a good idea that this billboard only has two colours as the billboards shows that less can be more.

This billboard only has the product on with four simple words. This is effective in a way that everything is easily seen and there isn't too much to be read to complicate things. This billboard shows exactly what is advertising and you know straight away what they are trying to advertise which is important. Above in billboard colour schemes it is usually the best idea to contrast colours so they are easily visible to the public eye. Here there is black writing against the white background so the four simple words are clear, strong and bold.

3D Billboards

3D Billboards

These are represented in the same locations as 2D billboards however 3D billboards look a lot different due to their texture of the billboard.

As you can see this looks like a 2D billboard however it is a 3D due to the fact that the image comes out the size range of the billboard whcih creates an effect. It is effective to the audinece because it does not look like an average billboard as the imagine stands out as it is shaped around the picture, not the picture shaoped around the billboard.

Above is also a 3D billboard however this billboard uses another object to connect to the billboard to create an extraudinay effect. I think this is a really great way to advertise a brand as everyone is drawn to the billboard as they are so amazed with it. People usually instantly know what it is for with billboards like this as they use objects to hand know what it is with excitement.
